A: Yes, you can install the product yourself. It is very easy to install Master Lock smartTouch GDO product. You simply connect the two terminals on the back of the Relay unit (20ft of wire provided) to the dry contact terminals on your opener mechanism (illustrated in the user manual – same connections you attach your sensors to); mount the relay using the drill template and two screws and plug the relay into the mains. You then put the batteries in the Sensor unit install 2 screws for mounting, again using the drill template provided and you are done.

A: No. When you enroll your finger, the Master Lock smartTouch GDO algorithm reads the unique swirls on your finger to create a unique code that only comes back to you. This code is encrypted and cannot be used to recreate your fingerprint.
Q: Does it work with dirty or greasy fingers? What happens if I cut my finger or my fingers are greasy or dirty? Will the GDO still recognize me and open/close the garage door?
A: Yes. The sensor reads below the skin, not the surface. The product reads the sub-dermal layers of your finger swirls (below the skin) so a cut or dirty fingers will not affect it

A: The LED on the unit will blink red then green intermittently when the cover is open, to indicate low batteries.
Q: What happens if I go away on vacation and the batteries die? Will I have to add all of the users into the Master Lock smartTouch GDO again?
A: No. The Master Lock smartTouch GDO has a memory that is not erased if the batteries die and none of the user information is lost. You simply replace the batteries and the unit will recognize the users who have previously enrolled.
Q: What if I sell my house and I want to leave the unit for the new homeowner. How can I be sure I have taken all of my family’s fingers out so that the new homeowner is comfortable we cannot get into the house?
A: You can ‘Factory Reset’ the unit which will wipe the memory and the product will have no users enrolled. The next time the programmer is plugged into the unit, the new homeowner will be asked to enroll as an administrator and then he/she will be able to add/delete users.
